Come and enjoy a one day Irish Cello workshop to learn fast and slow tunes, and develop an authentic stylistic approach to Irish Music for the cello. Play with other cellists, have a chance for direction on a solo air. The workshop is for players of all levels of experience. Please contact Ilse if you have any queries about your ability for the workshop.
What is the One Day Workshop All About?
The morning session will cover how to play Slides and Polkas in a traditional Irish style. You will learn these tunes in ‘sets’ of 2 or 3. Working on these tunes we will cover ornamentation, bowing techniques, and a rhythmic approach to Irish music. We will also focus on the relaxed and loose arm needed for playing traditional music.
The afternoon session we will work through a slow Irish Air and you will learn how to create your own arrangements with embellishment, variation, drones, experimental techniques and rhythmic ideas.
When you have paid for your place on the workshop you will receive free copies of my digital music books; Trad on Cello, Easy Irish Cello and Irish Airs for Solo Cello plus the Solo reels Tam Lin and College Groves. (value of €89!)
